Effective altruism

I spend a lot of my time thinking about how we can most effectively make the world better, and am involved with the “effective altruism” movement.

used to write about the topic periodically.

I have worked tangentially with many organizations that work on the question, including the Open Philanthropy Project and the Centre for Effective Altruism.

My main altruistic concern is the welfare of future generations, and I currently believe that working on AI alignment is my best path to making the world better.

In 2012 I co-founded the academic summer program SPARC, and since then have spent 2 weeks there each year.
